In the Level III+ (Special) version, the ballistic plates are composed of hexagonal alumina ceramic and ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene with weather-resistant finishing.
The "Level III Special" rating indicates protection against projectiles from rifles with calibers of 7.62 x 51mm NATO FMJ and 5.56 x 45 SS109.
The Stand Alone Plate refers to the ballistic panel used in vests or automotive armor when presented separately, meaning outside of a vest cover or vehicle armor. The Stand Alone ballistic panel is sometimes sold separately when the buyer already has a vest cover, for example. Panels can also be purchased for preliminary product testing
